Icebreakers Program Description
What is Icebreakers?
Icebreakers is a fun, interactive, online way to meet new people and practice your conversation skills.
Icebreakers is an online platform that is similar to speed dating (but not for dating!). It’s is a fun way to work on conversation skills. Each week we will have a topic and each round of the game folks will be matched with a different person. Once they are matched (randomly by the computer, not controlled by the host at all) there will be question/topic cards for them to “flip” over and talk about. After all the week’s games have been played, if someone got along with one of their matches they can message them via the game, but you don’t have to nor do you have to respond if someone messages you. It is a friendly way to develop conversation skills.
Is there a host?
Rachel, one of Integrated Autism Consulting’s coaches from Kingston runs this and she is awesome!
Join Rachel each week for 6 weeks. There will be new themes, questions and people to chat with.
Here’s how it works:
Each week you will be sent a new link to participate. Follow the link on your laptop or computer (sorry, the Icebreakers platform is not yet optimized for mobile participation) and login in to the main chat room. From here Rachel will guide you through the games (when you are playing your camera and mic will be accessed and you will be able to see and hear your online game match). Each game has question cards that you and your match can flip and talk about. After each round, we’ll regroup in the main chat room and get ready to play again! Each week we’ll play between 4-6 rounds.
It’s a fun, quick way to meet new friends, talk about fun and thought-provoking topics and practice your conversation skills.
Can’t wait to see you there!
