About IAC

Integrated Autism Consulting was founded in the year 2000 and has operated collectively in the Barrie area since 2014.
After decades of employment, skill development and knowledge acquisition in the autism field, the concept of providing a holistic, eclectic support service for people with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and their families emerged.
Since ASD is a complex disorder involving communication and social skills, self-regulation, anxiety and sensory issues, and each individual is affected differently.
Integrated Autism Consulting focuses on all facets of the disorder and person and provides an integrated and individualized approach to services.
Integrated Autism Consulting is a business on a mission to help people with Autism Spectrum Disorders be as independent and as included as they are able.
Integrated Autism Consulting provides skilled, evidence and solution-based services for families, professionals and individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders across the lifespan and spectrum.
We are dedicated to providing training, coaching, consultation, advocacy and developing individualized programs and curriculum to facilitate independence and community integration.
Supporting young adults with ASD Level 1 (Asperger Syndrome) has become a primary focus.
Transition to Life is our flagship program, which has now been operating for over 10 years. This 12 week course provides direct training and individualized coaching for autistic young adults with ASD Level 1 (Asperger Syndrome) as they transition to work or post-secondary education.

Our Team

Patricia O’Connor
Patricia O’Connor is an educator with over 40 years experience. She founded Integrated Autism Consulting to address the burgeoning needs of autistic individuals.
During the past 25 years, she has conducted autism-specific workshops for families and professionals, consulted to an international agency to develop curriculum specifically for autistic young adults, assisted businesses in integrating employees, acted as an expert witness in a successful constitutional law challenge, as well as offered coaching services and consultations to clients and their families.
Since 2010 she has created innovative programs for young adults and their parents including Transition to Life and Imagine a Life. Her passion for the ASD population and belief in her role as a change agent for individuals and their families motivates her to assist, support and guide them to success and fulfillment in their lives.
Specializations: Consultation, functional assessments, coaching, training, mentoring, program development and advocacy for autistic youth, young adults and adults with ASD Level 1 (Asperger Syndrome) transitioning to the world of work, post-secondary education, and independent living.

Erin Lalande
Erin has been teaching youth and coaching young adults for the past 10 years. She has worked closely with IAC since 2014 while being involved with the Transition to Life course and as the Social Club facilitator for several years.
With IAC, Erin offers a wide variety of coaching and educational services. She is IAC’s Program Facilitator, providing reliable administrative support for our courses and programs. She operates IAC’s program development, marketing, client services, program administration as well as provides curriculum development, and workshop design for IAC services.
Erin is a trained educator, an Ontario Certified Teacher and learning strategist, and has extensive experience working with neurodiverse youth. She specializes in skill development instruction with a focus on transition planning, executive functioning, job readiness, and providing support for students in post-secondary education.
Erin’s teaching philosophy to is provide youth with strength-based and goal-oriented instruction. Her areas of interest include accessible learning design, youth advocacy, and workplace inclusion. Outside of work, Erin enjoys hiking, spending time outdoors, as well as music, art and design.

Chris Balderston
Chris has been involved with Integrated Autism Consulting since 2014. He has worked with IAC for several years as a Social Club Facilitator as well as a sought-after mentor for autistic young adults. Chris is also a trained Transition to Life instructor and coach.
Chris has a background in computer software and hardware, maintaining an enthusiastic interest in technology. He received his Diploma from Georgian College for Computer Programmer Analyst in October of 2015 and has additionally completed a computer hardware course, also at Georgian College. Chris has previously offered The Tech Club through IAC and shares his interest and passion for technology with many of the clients he works with.
Chris is an avid fan of trading card games, board games, and video games – though he likes to balance these with outdoor activities – such as hikes, walking his two large dogs, trampolining, and casual sports.

Nicole Webb
Nicole has a wide range of experience supporting and working with young people and is excited to use these experiences to support autistic young adults. Nicole has previously worked as an Educational Assistant and has spent time supporting youth as a community mentor. She offers Transition to Life, and coaching and consultation services to autistic youth in the Barrie area.
Nicole joined IAC in 2020 and was previously our Social Club coordinator. She currently provides direct coaching services to youth and autistic adults and supports IAC as the Social Club Facilitator for group programs. She also holds a weekly Women’s Social Hour with IAC’s Craft Circle and sees this as an opportunity to empower young autistic women through positive relationships.
In her spare time, Nicole enjoys running, skiing, reading and writing and she loves the outdoors and spending time with her family.

Jay Van Dam
Jay is experienced at working with autistic children and youth, and offers valuable lived-experience as an autistic individuals while he is supporting IAC’s Social Club.
Jay obtained his undergraduate degree Majoring in Sociology and Minoring in Psychology and he has a post-graduate certificate in Autism Behavioural Science. He has worked with autistic children as a Behavioural Therapist and Educational Assistant. Jay joined IAC as a Social Club Coordinator in Spring 2023.
Jay enjoys relaxing by playing video games and analyzing movies. He is also fond of taking part in walking in his backyard nature trails alongside his family.

Carey Webb
Carey is one of Integrated Autism Consulting coordinators for the Social Club. Having been involved in several social groups during high school, Carey is excited to expand his experience and skills.
In Carey’s free time, he enjoys painting with watercolours, watching movies and spending time with cat and local Social Club celebrity Chowder.

Tammy Hodgson
Tammy has been working to support young people and their families for many years, and is excited to use these experiences to support autistic young adults.
Tammy, works as an Educational Assistant, an EarlyON Facilitator, and a photographer, and joined IAC in the spring of 2023. She now facilitates IAC’s Spectrum Connection group with monthly community outings in the Barrie area.
In her spare time, Tammy loves spending time being with family and friends, in the outdoors, paddle boarding, gardening, camping, hiking, cross country skiing, reading, and enjoying crafts, games, and photography.
